Lil Wayne has been asked to join the Verzuz ring for years, but he only wants to face one person.

In an interview with Rolling Stone on June 9, Weezy expressed interest in competing against himself.

“I was interested in Mixtape Weezy going against Lil Wayne,” he remarked, using the past tense. “That would have been insane… Other artists you like? Brother, no artist can perform beside me. I apologize.”

Birdman had similar sentiments in 2021 when questioned about a Lil Wayne Verzuz.

Swizz Beatz has addressed why he wouldn’t consider a Lil Wayne and 50 Cent Verzuz after months of intense debate on social media.

“Me personally, I wouldn’t even do 50 vs. Wayne — they two different dynamics and two different artists,” Swizz told Baller Alert.

“I would do a different Verzuz for both of them, but we’ll see as we have a lot of things lined up for Verzuz and hopefully they’re involved. I can’t say who I’d pick to fight them, but wait and see.”

Wiz Khalifa also wants to fight Lil Wayne, but for performance rather than competition.

I believe that would be entertaining. In a December interview, the Taylor Gang CEO stated Wayne performs well. Me and him going back and forth performing bangers? That’d be hard! Smoking hella marijuana together. I’d call that a concert, not a Verzuz.”

Weezy mentioned a Verzuz on Marcellus Wiley’s More to It podcast in 2022, but not for himself. I would say the best competition for Young Money or Cash Money in the ring is Roc-A-Fella. Jay-Z the hombre.”

Verzuz will next face Diddy and Jermaine Dupri in the long-awaited hits showdown. Madison Square Garden hosts the event on September 8.
