Donovan Mitchell Shines with 34 Points as Cleveland Cavaliers Secure Late Victory Over Chicago Bulls, 109-91

Jarrett Allen recorded 14 rebounds and 10 points for the Cleveland Cavaliers, which was good for his ninth consecutive double-double. Donovan Mitchell tallied 34 points, and the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Chicago Bulls 109-91 in the closing seconds.

Despite squandering a 21-point lead in the second half, Caris LeVert contributed 16 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists off the bench to help the Cavaliers extend their longest winning streak of the season to five games.

Early in the fourth quarter, Coby White completed two free throws to give Chicago its only lead of the game, 81-80. This completed a 28-6 run that had begun after Cleveland had taken a 74-53 lead in the third.

The Cavaliers responded immediately with ten consecutive points, five of which were scored by Mitchell on drives to the rim, and finished the game on a 29-10 run.

In regulation, Cleveland attempted 57 3-pointers, which was a franchise-high and tied for the NBA season high. This was the first time the Indians had returned to the court since defeating Brooklyn 111-102 in Paris on January 11.

Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, and White all contributed 18 points each for the Bulls, who had won two consecutive games away from home. Andre Drummond and Vucevic both collected ten rebounds.

Cleveland has a record of 10-3 since learning that point guard Darius Garland will miss some time in February due to a fractured jaw and power forward Evan Mobley, both of whom are undergoing left knee surgery.

“Evan and Darius are making progress and making positive strides,” Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff stated. “But there is no update on their return date.”

The Cavaliers established a 40-21 lead in the first period with eight three-pointers, three of which were made by Georges Niang. White scored eight points for Chicago in the second period, as the team trailed 60-46 at halftime.

Forward Patrick Williams of the Chicago Bulls missed his second consecutive game due to right ankle pain that, according to coach Billy Donovan, was influencing his heel region.
