On Monday night, the Chicago Bulls defeated the Charlotte Hornets 119-112 in overtime, while Andre Drummond contributed 21 points and 15 rebounds and Coby White scored 27 points. Terry Rozier had contributed 39 points.
In his second game back from an injury, Nikola Vucevic contributed nine rebounds and twenty-one points as the Bulls (17-21) defeated the Hornets for the second time in four nights.
Rozier finished 12-for-12 from the penalty line and made seven three-pointers for Charlotte (8-26), which has suffered its 13th consecutive loss.
The Hornets, who continue to be sidelined by key reserves P.J. Washington and Cody Martin and starters LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams, and Gordon Hayward due to injuries, received 24 points from Miles Bridges.
Despite Chicago’s initial eight-point surge in overtime, the Hornets maintained their interest and nearly equalized the score prior to Nick Smith Jr.’s miss-on a 3-point attempt from the corner.
Additionally, Bridges missed two three-pointers in the final twenty seconds for the Hornets, who finished the overtime period 2 of 9 from the field.
The Bulls defeated the Hornets 104-91 in Chicago on Friday night, and after establishing a 14-2 lead, it appeared they might run away with this one. After the first quarter, the Hornets surged back to take a 25-24 lead on the combined 19 points of Rozier and Bridges.
With 46 seconds remaining, the Bulls reduced the deficit to seven with 4:16 remaining in regulation, but Rozier made his seventh three-pointer of the evening and Bridges completed a turnaround jumper.
Rozier had an opportunity to give Charlotte the lead but his 3-ponter attempt came up short with eight seconds left as coach Steve Clifford pleaded for a foul call. Demar DeRozan had an opportunity to seal the game for the Chicago Bulls on the buzzer, but his inability to connect from deep forced overtime.
