Against Miles Bridges and the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night, the Chicago Bulls greeted back Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic with a 104-91 victory, led by Coby White’s 22 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.
DeMar DeRozan supplemented Chicago’s (17 points) haul with three consecutive losses. Andre Drummond recorded ten rebounds, marking the sixth time in succession that he recorded double-digit boards.
In nearly 30 minutes of action, LaVine tallied 15 points in his first game back since November 28. In 25 minutes of reserve action, Vucevic accumulated seven rebounds and eleven points.
LaVine missed seventeen games due to inflammation in his right foot. Five games ago, Vucevic was sidelined with a strained left adductor.
Alex Caruso, who suffered a sore neck, was a late absence for Chicago despite the returns of LaVine and Vucevic.
Bridges tallied 28 points to help the Hornets conclude a 1-5 road journey. Terry Rozier scored 15 points on 5-of-17 shooting, while Cody Martin contributed 13 points to his total.
Chicago gained control of the game with a 16-4 fourth-quarter run. With 7:41 remaining, Ayo Dosunmu made a three-point attempt and subsequently scored another, and DeRozan converted a three-point play to extend the lead to 90-73.
LaVine established himself towards the conclusion of the initial half. He followed up a breakaway dunk with a three-pointer in the first half to give the Bulls a 47-41 lead.
In the first half’s fifteen minutes, White scored eleven points to lead the Bulls, while LaVine contributed nine. The Hornets were led by Bridges (17 points on 7-of-11 shooting).
Rozier went 3-4 in Tuesday’s victory at Sacramento. He did not score again until 9:52 into the third quarter when he converted two foul shots. A four-pointer among his eleven points in the period helped Chicago reduce its deficit to 74-69 entering the fourth.
After missing Tuesday’s game with a bruised left hip, Hornets rookie Brandon Miller returned to the starting lineup. However, LaMelo Ball (right ankle sprain), Gordon Hayward (left calf strain), Mark Williams (bruised lower back), and Frank Ntilikina (left tibia fracture) remained sidelined.
Miller accumulated nine points in total.
