Vinicius Jr. Converts Justin Jefferson into a Flamengo Superfan During His Visit to Brazil

Justin Jefferson, an All-Pro wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings, traveled to Rio de Janeiro last week. The NFL boasts a remarkably sizable fan base in Brazil, as evidenced by the existence of dedicated social media accounts featuring coverage in Portuguese.

The NFL Brasil accounts effectively documented Jefferson’s visit to the country from various perspectives; the Vikings paid homage to the renowned “Christ the Redeemer” statue as their initial destination.

Jefferson conferred with the Brazilian superstar Vinicius Jr. the following day. In order to demonstrate his enjoyment to the American, the Real Madrid prodigy accompanied him to the Maracana, where they witnessed Flamengo defeat Aucas 4-0 in the club’s final Copa Libertadores group stage match.

The wide receiver was so engrossed in the ambiance that he proceeded to share Instagram posts featuring lyrics from Flamengo’s renowned chant.

Jefferson was made to feel at home by Vinicius Jr., who donned his finest “Jettas” impersonation while donning the pads and helmet.

Although Jefferson is renowned for his “Griddy” dance move that ensues after scoring touchdowns, it is not surprising that Brazilian steps will likely be incorporated into his celebrations during the upcoming season as well.

The first three seasons of Jefferson’s NFL career have been nothing short of astounding. By over 662 yards, he has accumulated the most receiving yards of any pass-catcher in the history of the league during their inaugural three seasons. The only other pass-catcher comes in second, which was Hall of Famer Randy Moss.

Jefferson has received an abundance of honors, most notably being named the AP Offensive Player of the Year in 2022, in recognition of his 1,800-yard campaign. In 2023, he will be attempting to convert his individual accomplishments into a postseason appearance.
