Damar Hamlin Gets Heart Tattoo to Mark 1 Year After On-Field Cardiac Arrest, Staying ‘Locked In’

The meaning of Damar Hamlin’s most recent tattoo is significant.

The 25-year-old NFL star got a heart palms tattoo on the back of his neck to mark one year since his on-field cardiac arrest during the Buffalo Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The recently applied tattoo, which made its Instagram début on the page of renowned tattoo artist Alexander Brenes, depicts hands forming the heart around an electrocardiogram.

Brenes posted a close-up of the tattoo alongside an image depicting the application procedure, accompanied by the caption “One year later, I am still confined to the inn 𝑎𝑎.” Hamlin remarked,

In addition, the football player commemorated the anniversary of his on-field health scare by posting a message on a GoFundMe page that was established in support of a toy campaign funded by his Chasing M’s Foundation.

I wanted to extend a personal thank you in advance to you as a donor to my charity before the New Year began. My family and I have shared an extraordinary voyage over the past year, and the expansion of my charity—made possible by the generosity of individuals such as yourself—is an immense blessing. His message continued, “Beyond my return to the NFL this fall, I have devoted time to developing the mission of my charity, which is to empower young people and encourage those who are struggling.”

He discussed the foundation’s supplementary philanthropic endeavors from the previous year, which encompassed the establishment of a scholarship program and the organization of community events.

“One of the things that has inspired me most is the real-life stories of people who were inspired to be CPR trained because of my experience, then turned around and saved the life of another this year,” stated Hamlin in his message.

On October 9, as a member of the Bills’ special teams for kick returns, Hamlin made his return for his first regular season game against the Miami Dolphins.

“I believe it was more about making a promise to myself than anything else; simply demonstrating to myself that I possess the bravery, strength, dignity, and everything else that those terms entail, I am capable of enduring a traumatic experience and emerging from it unscathed. “It’s incredible to be able to continue doing what I love at the highest level in the world,” he told the Associated Press following his team’s 48-20 victory.
The Buffalo Bills, led by Hamlin, are vying for one of the final playoff positions when they face the Miami Dolphins once more on Sunday.
