One of the greatest players of all time, LeBron James has transcended his sport to become a global superstar. “King James” is the only NBA player to win titles with three teams—the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and, most recently, the Los Angeles Lakers. He has two Olympic gold medals, four MVP awards, the playoff points record, and 10 NBA finals appearances.
His amazing success comes from talent, training, and the appropriate basketball shoes at 6’9″. His Nike basketball shoe collection is his legacy. James has collaborated with manufacturers on many collections of the best performance basketball shoes ever manufactured, and brands have always wanted him. As he graduated high school, Nike, adidas, and Reebok competed for his endorsement, with Nike winning for $90 million, the highest-paid rookie contract ever. Before his first NBA game, this happened!
LeBron basketball sneakers are among the most popular in the world, thus that cooperation has paid dividends for both parties. Discover the history of Nike LeBron with a complete timeline of LeBron James Shoes.
Nike Air Zoom Generation LeBron 1
In 2003, Nike and LeBron debuted the Nike Air Zoom Generation basketball shoe – LeBron James’ first shoe. Boasting two of Nike’s best cushioning technology at the time, the shoe is comfortable and a classic among sneaker collectors. There’s Nike Air Zoom technology in the front of the shoe and Nike Air in the heel. It was produced in seven colors and kick-started The Chosen One’s signature collection.Nike Zoom LeBron 2
Nike clearly knew it had a hit collaboration and went all-in with LeBron on the Zoom LeBron series. The LeBron 2 iteration has a thick ankle strap for reinforcement, plus a shell to protect the cushioning for quick lateral movements.
LeBron 3 has more of a street-style appeal, with less weight on the midsole. It comes in 10 colors, including a red, white and blue style named “Team U.S.A.”
The LeBron 4 shoe has a carbon shank with Foamposite construction and looks vastly different from earlier shoes thanks to its wavy sole and interesting lines. This is the first shoe in the series with a full-length Air Zoom cushioning throughout.
The upper changed on the LeBron 5 to include a stylish strap, but the full-length Air Zoom technology stayed put.
